We have heard several times over the past few years that people are surprised when they get our handwritten thank you notes. Apparently, people aren’t sending them anymore! Worse, people aren’t even taking the time to shoot off an email thank you. Now, we’re not sure about you but our grandmothers would be shocked, dismayed and disgusted that people are not writing thank you in some form or another. We’ve actually decided not to hire people based on a lack of a thank you. If we’ve taken the time to read your resume and interview you the least we can expect is a note. We’d even take an email. But no. Apparently, it takes too much effort these days to craft a short sweet note and stick it in the mailbox.
Rather than rant about how RUDE it is to not thank someone for a gift, their time, a contact shared with you or anything else let’s see this trend for what it is…an opportunity. If you are the person who takes the time to buy nice stationary and really think about a sincere thank you sentiment you WILL BE remembered!
